Day 12/76: HIIT, Chest, & Runners Need

Today was a long one.

I knew I had an event after work which threatened to throw a gym visit out the window, so I got up early and did a HIIT session before my brain could catch up with what I was doing.

My boyfriend has hockey training on a Wednesday, which is when I usually take a rest day and be a little housewife doing laundry, hoovering, tidying, cooking, etc., but last night I managed to do all that plus a HIIT workout so I was feeling pretty smug. However, leaving about 10 hours between sessions didn’t do me a lot of good this morning as I hadn’t properly recovered from the night before and my mountain climbers were an absolute shambles. It also doesn’t help that our living room has the creakiest wooden floor, and I was trying desperately hard not to keep the man of the house awake having set an alarm for 05:55.

I finished the workout in record time (okay, I cheated and combined high knees with arm sprints, and sacked one move just all the way off) chucked some breakfast in the oven and hopped in the shower before getting back into bed and having the nicest morning hanging out with my boyfriend. Because of our different routines, he’s often still asleep (or at the very least, still in bed) by the time I leave in the morning, so it was such a lovely change to be able to spend time together before work.

After work I headed over to the Runner’s Need by my work for a set of talks as part of their women’s running series with the girl I ran the 10km race with. We drank champagne, ate inferior coconut balls to the ones Nike laid on for us, and attempted to listen to the speeches in an overly loud shop setting. Freebies safely stuffed in bags, we headed off home in time for me to get back and squeeze in a quick 40 minute workout before the gym closed for the day.
